Ashmore Hopes Action Figure Won't Be Hurt
Shawn Ashmore hopes "X2: X-Men United" fans are kinder to his action figure than he was to his G.I.
Joes when he was a kid.
"It's really strange knowing that there will be toys out there," he told AP Radio, "and people will
have a miniature version of you and doing whatever they want.
"I used to blow up G.I. Joes with firecrackers, so I hope nobody does that with mine."
Ashmore plays Iceman in the movie, but he was a comic book fan long before "X2."
"I still have, at my parents' old house, a big box full of comics in my old closet," he said. "It's
probably gone by now. I left it there. Whether it's still there, I don't know."
Ashmore said if there's a third "X-Men" movie, it should explore the relationships between his
character, Rogue and Pyro.
"There is a bit of a love triangle going on obviously," he mused. "Bobby (Iceman) and Rogue are
together, and I think that's causes Pyro a little distress. That may be why he is such an angry young man.
"There's a lot of things that are started in this film that will be interesting to continue on. Like
the relationship between the three friends that happen to break off. They are all put through the same
sort of circumstances, and it will be interesting to see how each character deals with that in a different
way."
